Who is accountable

Juan Francisco Paulino Veras is the editorial lead of this site. If something is wrong, the responsibility is his, and it gets corrected when it is pointed out.

DominicanRepublic.is started from a specific irritation: almost everything written about this country is either a resort brochure or a list copied from another list. What is missing is the boring, useful part — what it actually costs to get from the airport into the city, which neighbourhood suits you, what is a myth and what is a real risk.

How each piece is made

  1. Research. Public sources are gathered: official sites, local media, transport data, published menus and opening hours.
  2. Draft. AI helps organise the material and write a first version.
  3. Human verification. Every fact that can change — price, hours, requirement, fare — is checked and dated. What cannot be checked is not filled in: it is declared as pending.
  4. Editorial review. The angle is decided, anything unsupportable is cut, and anything that reads like a brochure is rewritten.
  5. Publication, with dates. Each piece shows when it was published, updated and last verified.

What you will not find

  • Travel stories that did not happen, interviews that were not conducted, invented first-hand opinions.
  • Rankings that look objective without explaining their criteria.
  • Commercial links that are not disclosed.
  • Figures with no source and no date.

How corrections work

Email hola@dominicanrepublic.is with the piece and the fact. It gets fixed, the date changes, and the trace is not deleted.
